Working for the Chelmsford Learning Partnership

The Chelmsford Learning Partnership (CLP) is an established multi-academy trust based in Essex.

The other schools in the CLP are: Barnes Farm Infant School, Barnes Farm Junior School, Perryfields Infant School, Roding Valley High School, The Beaulieu Park School, The Boswells School and The Tyrrells Primary School.

Our vision for our schools is a simple one. We believe that, as a collective of schools, we are stronger together and that by working together we provide an outstanding education for every child in our family of schools.

We also believe it is important for schools in our trust to keep their individual identity and all our schools operate with their own autonomous Headteachers, Leadership teams, staff and Local Governing Bodies; each with their own ethos that makes every school in our trust unique. 

As a trust, we employ 530 staff and there are over 4,000 students in our schools.

We recognise that the greatest factor in securing an outstanding education for all the children in our schools is our staff and we are committed to the continued professional development and well-being of our staff. All staff in our trust:

  • Have access to pay and conditions that are, at least, in line with nationally agreed pay and conditions (Teachers and Professional Support Staff)
  • Have access to a comprehensive programme of professional development that will not only develop their current role but prepare them for career development should they wish
  • Have a commitment from the trust to look after the well-being of every member of staff and have working practices and policies that allow this to happen. 
  • Have access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to help them deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their work, health and well-being. 
  • Are fully consulted on all workplace policies that impact on them-we recognise the importance of staff having real representation in the development of our workplace practice and policies

Indoor Picnic

Indoor Picnic

We were hoping to have a Mothers' Day Picnic on th 17th March, but unfortunately due to the rain we had to cancel. We then planned it again for the 28th April, but once more we were scuppered by the weather. Mrs Howson in the kitchen had been working hard all week to ensure pupils had access to a delicious picnic meal, so we decided to go ahead with pupils only and have an indoor picnic instead. Although we were disappointed that we could not go ahead as originally planned, we still had lots of fun! The children loved the scones, some saying it was the best lunch ever! We also had a discussion as to whether we'd put cream or jam on first!

Creativity Day (21st April - Whole School)

Creativity Day (21st April - Whole School)

On Friday 21st April, we celebrated Creativity Day here at Lakelands. The children had a lovely day exploring how we can express our creativity through our learning. During out whole school assembly we discussed how we are already creative at Lakelands, “We use drama in our lessons!” “We study artists” etc. During the day, teachers had been busy planning a range of creative tasks that they could embed within the curriculum. In EYFS, pupils orally rehearsed and performed their retelling their focus book ‘Bedtime for Monsters’. They particularly loved acting out the gloopy mud!. In Year 1, the pupils began their artist study on Georgia O’Keefe and drew flower images inspired by her work. InThen in Year 2, pupils were tasked with presenting their work in a different way by creating 3D biome models to support their work in science. It was so lovely to hear the children’s suggestions and how they feel they are already being creative here at Lakelands!

Colchester Zoo (Year 1)

Colchester Zoo (Year 1)

Yesterday, our Year 1 pupils visited Colchester Zoo, as part of their Science unit of learning; 'Animals, including humans'. They took part in a workshop, Fastest, Biggest, Strongest and found the groups of vertebrates they are learning about in Science; mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. The also found carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and could identify them. The pupils were also excited to see the stones they had decorated in school to celebrate Colchester Zoo's 60th birthday, as part of the community project for schools, Colchester Zoo Rocks. Charlotte, who decided to write about her day in her journal when she went home, said, "I went to see the sea lions, the chimps, the bears were sound asleep and saw the snake and koala was in its cage. Next, we saw the scary crocodile, the zebras and the Rhinos. We saw the elephants, the giraffes and the ostriches all outside. Then we were allowed to go to the playground, and we had lots of fun! Wahooooooooooooooo!!!" After sharing photos of the trip with our parent community via Tapestry, some parents commented with how much fun their children had too. Such lovely pictures. What a good day had by all! Lovely photos. It looks like everyone had a great time and made some fab memories. Great pictures of everyone!!! They all sound and look like they had the best time!
