At Lakelands Primary School, we strongly believe that lunch time is a key part of the day. We have introduced a family dining service, where pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for different aspects of the dining experience, including laying the table, pouring water, and as they get older, serving food.
We will pride ourselves on the recreated family atmosphere of dining. Our staff will eat with the children, supporting them to develop and maintain healthy eating habits, as well as connecting with them and continuing to build relationships outside of the classroom.
The fresh, healthy meals will be prepared on site, and there will be at least two options. Children from Reception to Y2 are eligible for a free school meal, however pupils can still bring in lunch from home if they wish. We do ask however, that if a lunch from home is provided that this guide is followed. Crisps, confectionery and drinks other than water or milk should not be included. The school also has a strict no nuts policy.
Please see below for our weekly menus. Lunches must be ordered in advance using SIMS Pay. It may be that parents want to book in meals for the whole term at once.
The menus meet the food standards for schools and are quality assured by the Essex School Meal Service team. There is a general theme - Mondays are meat free, Thursdays are roast days and we will always have a fish option on Fridays.
