All of the schools in the Colchester Consortium took part in a joint art day this week. The theme was ‘Journeys’ in order to raise awareness for Refugee Action. A number of schools in Colchester are hosting Ukrainian and Afghan refugees and working very closely alongside this fantastic charity. The finished pieces of art will be displayed in a ‘gallery’ setting later in the year.

At Lakelands, we chose to represent this theme through animal migration; we learnt about reasons why animals would migrate such as the need to search for food and shelter. We invited the amazing Art Solutions to come in and host some workshops with our children and we are so proud of the end results. Not only do we have an incredible piece of art to represent journeys, but we have some beautiful end results that represent the Lakelands estate for display in our school.
